More than half of the thousands of people who depend on Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) vehicles every day are on their way to or from work. In an effort to inform more of the area’s workforce of the benefits of public transit, TARTA will host a series of Lunch and Learn events at area workplaces, beginning with Take TARTA to Work Day on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at One Government Center.
Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz will ride TARTA to work that morning before taking the short walk from TARTA’s downtown Transit Hub (612 N. Huron Street) to One Government Center.
Also on Sept. 28, TARTA will host a lunch and learn event at One Government Center from noon to 1 p.m. for those who want to find out more about how TARTA can take them to work.
“We are excited to share the changes happening at TARTA, and the work we are doing to greatly expand the number of people for whom public transportation is a viable option to get to and from work,” said TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski. “Events like this help boost the existing partnerships we have with area businesses and other places of work, and are crucial as we work to connect Toledo’s workforce with the places they need to go.
“We are thankful that the mayor is taking this opportunity to utilize public transportation and challenge others to do so as well. We continue to work on reaching all of Lucas County, and we are looking forward to sharing what is new at TARTA with people at this and future Lunch and Learn events in the area.”
