Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, whose support recently helped TARTA secure a $410,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, will visit TARTA’s Central Avenue headquarters for a press conference Friday.
The press conference will cover the impact of this grant – the funding from which will help TARTA craft a services plan and support its system redesign TARTA Next – as well as the impact of more than $17 million in other grants Rep. Kaptur and other legislators awarded to TARTA in the last year. Scheduled speakers in addition to Rep. Kaptur include TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 697 President Carly Allen.
“We are honored to have Congresswoman Kaptur visit us, and grateful for the support she continues to give to the dedicated TARTA workforce and the people who depend on public transportation in northwest Ohio,” Koprowski said. “These funds will help the TARTA transformation that is underway in all areas of our operations, from modernizing our facilities and fleet to creating a reliable, efficient transit system the people and businesses in this area need and deserve.
“Throughout her decades of public service, Congresswoman Kaptur has never stopped fighting to make sure that the great things northwest Ohio has to offer could be accessed by not just by the few, but by everyone who lives here. We are delighted to have the opportunity to thank her personally for her commitment to improving the quality of life of those who take TARTA to work, medical appointments, and everywhere else they need to go.”
