WHAT: Unveiling of TARTA’s Dugout, where new and experienced transit riders can find out more about TARTA can take them now and where it will be able to take them in the near future
WHEN: Open House, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, July 26
WHERE: TARTA Dugout, 413 Washington Street, Toledo (near first base entrance of 5/3 Field)
Residents on their way to a ball game or an event downtown will be able to find out how The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) can get them where they need to go with the introduction of The Dugout. Located steps from the first base gate at Fifth Third Field, The Dugout is designed to be a visual display to help riders find more information on TARTA. It will be open during select downtown events.
“We’d like customers to be aware of the exciting, positive changes that have happened at TARTA in recent years, and would like them to know that we can get them where they need to go,” said Sam Melden, TARTA’s Director of External Affairs and Communications. “We’ve always made it a point to get involved in the community we’re lucky to serve, and bringing the information people need right to them is another opportunity to do that.
“We’re particularly excited to introduce the concept of TARTA’s use of microtransit to those who might not be familiar with it. The pilot program we’re launching in 2023 is going to allow public transportation to reach new residents of Lucas County for the first time, giving more people access to jobs, medical appointments, and other essential destinations.”
At The Dugout, TARTA customers and those thinking about giving public transit a try will be able to learn more about TARTA’s new fare technology, different payment options, and microtransit, which will allow the system to reach all of Lucas County in 2023.
