The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) allowed guests to get behind the
wheel of a bus Monday, in order to preview a hiring event slated for this Saturday,
May 11.
Lucas County Commissioners Pete Gerken and Lisa Sobecki, Ronald Wells Jr. of the
Commissioner’s Office, TARTA Board of Trustees Vice President Kendra Smith and
TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski drove a bus through a course at TARTA’s Central
Avenue headquarters, and those applying to drive for TARTA will be able to do the
same Saturday.
Applicants can stop by a Drive The Bus Event at 1127 W. Central Avenue in Toledo
any time between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, May 11, to discuss open operator posts
with TARTA personnel, fill out an application and schedule an interview.
“There’s no better way to know if this is the job for you than to try it out,” said Ursula
Barrera-Richards, TARTA’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “In addition to scheduling
interviews and getting to know people who are looking for a change in their career,
we’re so happy to give applicants the experience of getting behind the wheel and
seeing if this is for them.
“Our amazing team of operators puts people in touch with jobs, medical
appointments, grocery shopping, educational opportunities and so much more every
day. They’re the main point of contact for anyone using our service, which is why it’s
so important that we find the right team. Events like these will help us build the roster
of operators we need to continue to move the region forward.”
Applicants who want to get behind the wheel at this event must:
