Walleye, Muddy Shuttles Connect Fans To Big Sports Weekend Downtown
As one of Toledo’s biggest sports weekends in recent memory approaches, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is ready to help fans steer clear of parking fees by running both the Walleye Shuttle and the Muddy Shuttle this Saturday, May 31.
The Toledo Walleye begin the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Finals at 7:15 p.m. Saturday against the Trois Riviéres Lions at the Huntington Center. The Toledo Mud Hens are celebrating Boots and Baseball Weekend at Fifth Third Field, with first pitch against the Louisville Bats scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
TARTA offers separate $3 round trip shuttles to each location, leaving from park-and-ride spots all around the area. Due to multiple game locations, Saturday departure times will vary slightly from regular Walleye and Muddy Shuttle service, including:
- Sylvania, Lourdes University Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., pick-up times 5:35 p.m. (Mud Hens) and 5:45 p.m. (Walleye)
- Waterville, Kroger, 8730 Waterville Swanton Road, pick-up times 5:35 p.m. (Mud Hens) and 5:45 p.m. (Walleye)
- Miracle Mile Shopping Center, 1727 West Laskey Road, pick-up times 6:05 p.m. (Mud Hens) and 6:15 p.m. (Walleye)
- Maumee, Lucas County Recreation Center, 2901 Key Street, pick-up times 6:05 p.m. (Mud Hens) and 6:15 p.m. (Walleye)
- Oregon, Starr Elementary School, 3230 Starr Avenue, pick-up 6:05 p.m. (Mud Hens) and 6:15 p.m. (Walleye)
Trips returning to the park-and-ride areas leave 20 minutes after the Walleye game, and 20 minutes following the postgame fireworks show for the Muddy Shuttle.
The Muddy Shuttle will also be running for the Friday, May 30 game against the Bats. Buses will leave from Waterville and Sylvania at 5:35 p.m. and Oregon, Maumee and Miracle Mile at 6:05 p.m.
The Walleye are seeking their first Kelly Cup championship and the first for Toledo since the Storm won the second of their back-to-back titles in 1994. As they have all through this season’s playoff run, Walleye Shuttles will be in action for every home game in the series, including Game 2 on Monday, June 2 and potential games 6 and 7 on June 10 and June 12.
After this weekend, the Muddy Shuttle picks back up for June 13-14 games against the Omaha Storm Chasers. The Shuttle will run for every Friday and Saturday home game the rest of the season.
