TARTA Union Leader Carly Allen Elected To International Post

Team TARTA bid farewell this week to Carly Allen, President and Business Manager of Amalgamated Transit Union ATU Local 697. The transit advocate and Operator extraordinaire has been elected to bring her skill to the next level as an International Vice President for the ATU. Members of Team TARTA gathered at the Central Avenue garage Wednesday to thank her and wish her luck.
Carly's skill as a driver, passion for helping her co-workers and tireless work to help pass the Issue 12 funding initiative in 2021 will not be forgotten. Union members far and wide will now benefit from that work ethic as she takes on this exciting new role.
The ATU proudly serves the needs of more than 200,000 members in the United States and Canada.
Allen began her career as an operator for TARTA while attending the University of Toledo, and became President of the ATU Local in 2011. She has served on the Great Northwest Ohio AFL-CIO’s executive board and received certifications in employment and labor relations from Wayne State University in 2016.

Carly was instrumental in the campaign to pass Issue 12, which changed TARTA’s funding structure to a sales tax and facilitated the growth of the system, ensuring long-term viability.
