TARTA Connects Community To Juneteenth Events
The City of Toledo’s Juneteenth Celebration offers a journey through the past, present and future, and Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) can make reaching any Juneteenth event easier Friday, June 19.
TARTA is offering a round-trip shuttle from parking at The Docks (26 Main Street) to the Glass City Metropark, courtesy of the event organizers. Visitors will be welcomed by art displays, musical performances, family activities and much more. The event runs from 3:30-9 p.m., and attendees can journey through exhibits like:
- The Past: Ancestral Roots
- The Present: Resilience & Freedom
- The Future: Afrofuturism & Beyond
The first shuttle heads to the Metropark from The Docks at 3 p.m., and the final trip back to the parking area leaves the park at 9:30 p.m.
For those taking TARTA’s fixed route service, routes 2, 10 and 12 run near Glass City Metropark. Paratransit customers may schedule a ride on TARTA Move by calling (419) 382-9901.
TARTA service also reaches several other Juneteenth events in the Glass City:
- Take any downtown route to the Juneteenth Parade, which runs from Uptown Green to Promenade Park and steps off at 1 p.m. There will also be food trucks and family activities at Promenade Park from 3-5 p.m.
- The Toledo Museum of Art’s Family Center hosts an interactive opportunity for you and your loved ones to create a work of art from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Take Route 2.
