New 3-Year Contract Agreement For TARTA, TAAP UAW Local 5242

TARTA's Board of Trustees has approved a new 3-year contract with the Toledo Association of Administrative Personnel (TAAP) UAW Local 5242, which represents about 40 employees at TARTA and its paratransit agency, TARTA Move. This agreement – which was approved by the union the week before – calls for raises of 11.5 percent over the length of the contract.

“We want to continue to invest in our workforce, as they are our greatest asset and the reason this mobility system has been able to take the forward steps it has these last 4 years,” said TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski. “Our Human Resources team has worked hard to find creative solutions for our team members, from new mentoring programs to a new tuition assistance program, and this mutually beneficial agreement is just one more way to show how much we value these talented, productive professionals.

“The raise in pay and the changes in benefits will allow us to retain the excellent people we have and attract new talent, putting us in position to better serve Lucas County and Rossford. We look forward to the future with this unbelievably hard- working group of people on board and continuing to do what they do.”

TARTA employees who are part of this bargaining agreement include:

  • Information operators
  • Customer service personnel
  • Transportation supervisors
  • Maintenance supervisors
  • Electronic technicians
  • Patron & station services
  • Administrative staff

Those impacted by the new contract will receive a four percent raise effective their next paycheck, another four percent in the summer of 2026 and 3.5 percent raise in 2027. The contract is effective immediately and will expire May 30, 2028.

Other changes from the previous contract include:

  • The introduction of 3 days of paid sick leave, ensuring that employees have access to time off for illness without loss of income
  • A change in accrued vacation, with team members being eligible for three days after 90 days of employment and two additional days after six months
  • Maintenance Supervisors eligible to receive a bonus of 95 cents per hour for each ASE certification, up to eight certifications
  • Brother-in-law and sister-in-law added to members of employee’s immediate family for Bereavement leave
