The University of Toledo’s Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute and the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) are presenting a webinar on the basics of human trafficking recognition and action, as part of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
Human Trafficking 101 will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, presented by Dr. Celia Williamson of the Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute. This presentation is free and open to the public and will cover:
Dr. Williamson is a globally-recognized expert in the field of human trafficking, having delivered over 200 presentations in a career dedicated to prevention and helping survivors thrive. The impact of trafficking on vulnerable communities has been a particular focus for Dr. Williamson, who founded the International Trafficking and Social Justice Conference in Toledo. She is also the founder of the Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition and Ohio’s first anti-trafficking program.
Through events and social posts this month, TARTA and the University of Toledo have sought to raise the awareness of human trafficking with TARTA passengers and the general public. These efforts include a training course for TARTA drivers to help them recognize the signs of human trafficking and understand the next steps.
Register for this webinar online, or see TARTA’s social media sites for more information.
