TARTA’s Virgil Wise Named OPTA’s Milestone Award Recipient

For the second year in a row, a Team TARTA member has been recognized with the Ohio Public Transit Association’s Milestone Award.

TARTA mechanic Virgil Wise was honored during OPTA’s annual convention in Columbus. The Milestone Award recognizes individuals or transit agencies in Ohio that have achieved significant benchmarks.

Virgil, an Army veteran, has helped move the region forward as a mechanic at TARTA for more than 37 years.

“Our team of maintenance personnel does such great work every day, and we are so pleased to see Virgil recognized for his decades of service,” said TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski. “Virgil’s skill set has helped keep our fleet moving and played a big part in northwest Ohioans being able to connect with the people, places and events that matter most to them.”

Last year’s Milestone Award went to former TARTA operator Don Glaza.
