After closing in March of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority’s (TARTA) downtown Transit Hub on Huron Street has been reopened. Serving as the core of TARTA’s bus system, 17 local routes connect to the Transit Hub.
With the Hub opening its doors just in time for inclement weather, riders will again have access to the information center, free Wi-Fi, climate-controlled seating areas, friendly in-person TARTA ambassadors, and restrooms. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged in the Transit Hub, which is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
There are also improvements planned on the outside of the building in the coming weeks, including updated lighted signage on the top of the Hub and weather protection awnings for customers.
“We have very much looked forward to reopening the Hub, and are confident that we can provide this resource to our passengers in a manner that also protects their health and safety,” said TARTA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Laura Koprowski. “We thank our riders for their patience, and TARTA owes a huge debt of thanks to its team members who have worked so diligently during this closure to keep our riders informed and on their way to their destinations.”
While using the Transit Hub, TARTA passengers can expect their ride to work, home, or anywhere else in the area to be steps away, with buses lined up on Huron and Cherry streets.
Improving customer experience remains a key component of TARTA’s vision for the future of mobility and transit in northwest Ohio. With the reopening of the Transit Hub, extended weekday service, and other improvements on the way through our TARTA Next project, TARTA continues to make public transit cleaner, safer, and more reliable for those who depend on it.
