The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) has approved a new 3-year contract with the Toledo Association of Administrative Personnel (TAAP) UAW Local 5242, which represents about 40 employees at TARTA and its paratransit agency, TARPS.
The pact takes effect immediately and runs through May of 2025. It provides raises of between 10 and 25 percent for all employees covered by the contract, including:
The agreement brings pay scale to or near industry standard, and also places every TARTA employee under the same unified health plan.
“We’ll continue to work with members and TARTA to advocate and support market value wage increases,” said TAAP/UAW Local 5242 President Emilio Ramirez. “It’s important to all of us that these team members know that they are a valued part of what’s happening at TARTA, and that they have a contract which reflects that.”
Most members of the bargaining unit will receive an 8 percent raise this year and 6 percent in each of the next two years. Members of the union received a 3 percent raise with a contract ratified last year.
“This new contract represents the new TARTA, in that we invest and value our greatest asset – our workforce,” said TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski. “We are driven by a dedicated workforce that gives its best to the customers who count on TARTA to get to work, school and other essential destinations every day.
“The raise in pay and the changes in benefits will allow us to retain the excellent people we have and attract new talent, putting us in position to better serve Lucas County and Rossford. We look forward to the future with this unbelievably hardworking group of people on board and continuing to do what they do.”
