It was a career change that brought Craig Schuster back home to Toledo. When he applied at TARTA, he knew exactly what he wanted to do.
“It was specific to TARPS because of the ability to reach out to the community in a helpful way, serving people with special needs,” he said.
For the last three years, he’s helped hundreds of people get to doctor appointments, work and social events – giving them the freedom to explore and be a part of their communities. It’s a responsibility Schuster doesn’t take lightly and one, he says, that comes with its own set of challenges. He points to a recent increase in passengers and calls the job, “pretty demanding” and adds, “it keeps you focused.”
Despite the heavier that normal work load, Schuster has managed to meet and exceed TARPS’ goals. In the month of September, he had an on-time performance, or OTP of 98.63%!
“I don’t work at that, in terms of trying to ‘play the list,’” he said. “I just like the idea of [TARPS] being a needed service that I can help provide.”
Schuster is joined by 9 other TARPS operators with OTPs greater than 92%.
Great work to TARPS’ top performers of September 2019!
