What’s next for public transportation in northwest Ohio, and what will it mean for your commute and your community?
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is taking the next steps in its TARTA Next redesign by discussing proposed new service maps and options at public events next week.
TARTA will host a community meeting Thursday, March 10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the McMaster Center of the Main Branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (325 N. Michigan Street). Customers and the community may arrive whenever they wish during that timeframe to get a look at options for proposed route maps and discuss expanded service, micro-transit, and other modes of transportation that may be part of TARTA Next.
Customers can also find out more at a pair of informational events Wednesday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at TARTA’s downtown Toledo Transit Hub (612 N. Huron Street) and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Lucas County’s shared services campus (3737 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo).
“We’re in the phase now where we’re identifying some of those additional places we can go sooner rather than later,” said TARTA Director of Transit Service Development Neil Greenberg. “The passage of Issue 12 opens up a lot of possibilities for TARTA and the people who depend on it.
“We’re taking a fresh look at everything we do, and evaluating what makes sense for our future.”
Throughout most of 2020, TARTA personnel and consultants met with customers and community leaders to discuss what they wanted to see from public transportation. As part of its first redesign in decades, TARTA has collected information on where and when customers travel, in an effort to making taking public transportation in Lucas County and Rossford faster and easier.
