Residents of the Oregon Senior Center will get an up-close look at the vehicles that will soon be available to connect them to their community when the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) showcases a TARTA Flex vehicle and a paratransit vehicle Tuesday, December 12.
When: Tuesday, December 12, 9:30-11 a.m.
What: TARTA Flex and TARPS Vehicle Display
Where: Oregon Senior Center, 4350 Navarre Avenue
TARTA personnel will instruct attendees on how to schedule paratransit and on-demand Flex rides, what their payment options are, and what new TARPS riders will need to do to qualify for paratransit service. Both services – in addition to TARTA’s fixed-route service – will be available to Oregon’s residents beginning January 7, 2024.
For those with a qualifying disability, TARPS can serve as a connection to the community. Pick-up spots can stretch as far as ¾ of a mile from existing fixed-route stops. Once Oregon service begins, residents will be able to schedule a TARPS ride in an accessible vehicle to or from the Oregon Senior Center, the Eastern Community Branch YMCA, or any other location inside the paratransit zone.
Maps of the Oregon zones for both TARPS and TARTA Flex can be viewed at tarta.com/Oregon.
TARTA Flex is a rideshare service that will allow Oregon residents to request a ride in an accessible van anywhere in Oregon or Rossford for $3 each way. While TARTA Flex is designed to be used point-to-point within specific transit zones, passengers who are age 65 and over or paratransit-eligible can travel point-to-point in TARTA’s entire coverage area, provided that either the pick-up or drop-off point is in a Flex zone.
