TARTA Introduces State of the Art Cleaning Equipment
TARTA recently acquired three new hand-held electrostatic sprayers for daily interior cleaning and sanitizing of buses and other service vehicles. Daily sanitizing includes extra attention to high touch areas by customers such as doors, handrails and seats. The electrostatic sprayers use a disinfectant solution that is effective at eliminating the COVID-19 virus on hard surfaces within minutes. This equipment will also be utilized to sanitize within TARTA buildings.
TARTA and TARPS Remain Fare Free
TARTA and TARPS remain fare free due to its effectiveness as a safety measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among customers and employees. In addition, by temporarily offering free fares, TARTA is doing its part to help alleviate the financial crisis many people are facing in our community. TARTA is covering the cost of free fares through the federal CARES Act funding that the agency received earlier this year.
Employee COVID-19 Cases
This week, TARTA confirmed seven new cases of COVID-19 among TARTA’s employees. Since Nov. 1, 2020, there has been a total of 15 employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. Seven are administrative employees who have no interaction with the public. The following are the last dates that drivers operated a TARTA or TARPS vehicle:
Of these 15 employees, two drivers and one administrative employee have returned to work.
Since March 2020, there have been 19 TARTA employees with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
TARTA is complying with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements regarding the sensitive health information of employees who have tested positive. TARTA informs the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department of all confirmed cases of COVID-19.
