(TOLEDO, August 11, 2020) – The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) has been informed that a second bus operator tested positive for COVID-19. The operator last drove a transit vehicle on Aug. 5, 2020. All TARTA bus operators are required to wear facial masks and practice social distancing from passengers. Most recently TARTA began installing plastic barriers around bus operators as another layer of protection to reduce the possible spread of coronavirus. TARTA now has four employees who have tested positive for coronavirus to date, one has returned to work.
Following TARTA standard protocol, the vehicle last operated by the employee was cleaned and disinfected prior to returning to service. Additionally, TARTA has conducted a thorough analysis to determine if other staff members may have been in contact with this employee at less than six feet and for more than 10 minutes.
TARTA is closely monitoring this situation with the employee. TARTA has been working diligently to provide all employees and riders with the safest possible environment. For more information on TARTA’s efforts related to COVID-19, rider safety guidelines and links to critical resources visit https://tarta.com/coronavirus.
