Urinating, defecating, vomiting, spitting on TARTA property is strictly prohibited.

Passenger Code of Conduct

Rules to Observe While on a TARTA bus

  • No illegal or unlawfully possessed firearms and/or any other weapons, explosives or flammable substances.
  • No action creating a nuisance for driver or others or engaging in fighting, threatening harm to persons or property, or violent, turbulent or unsafe or criminal action in or around TARTA buses or bus stops.
  • No yelling, screaming, singing, playing musical instruments or use of any other sound amplification devices (without headsets) including cell phone ringtones.
  • No smoking, eating, drinking, roller skating, skateboarding or bicycling.
  • No animals, insects or reptiles, except service animals.
  • No profanity, bullying or harassment, sexual/racial slurs or gestures, threatening/offensive language and no public displays of affection.
  • Nonqualifying passengers must vacate elderly/disabled seating upon request of any TARTA employee.
  • No person shall interfere, in any manner, with the safe operation or movement of any TARTA vehicle.
  • No person shall hinder or prevent the movement of persons on any TARTA vehicle or any TARTA property so as to interfere with the rights of others.
  • No solicitation, panhandling, begging or loitering.
  • No use or public display of offensive or pornographic materials or media.
  • No person shall use or possess alcohol or illegal drugs on/in a TARTA vehicle or station, except for lawfully possessed and unopened alcoholic beverages.

Violation of any of the rules established in the Code of Conduct Policy will result in the immediate suspension of riding privileges, and will subject the offender to the penalties set forth in Ohio Revised Code 306.99 (B).

TARTA Transit Hub Code of Conduct

Rules to Observe While in TARTA Facilities

  • No weapons, and/or firearms, explosives, or flammable substances.
  • No disruptive behavior including fighting, damage of property and harassment of other customers and/or TARTA staff.
  • No wheeled devices including roller skates, skateboards, or bikes. Wheelchairs and mobility aid service devices are permitted.
    Turn down the volume. No yelling, screaming, singing, playing musical instruments or use of any other sound amplification devices (without headsets) including ringtones.
  • No animals, insects, or reptiles, other than service animals.
  • No solicitation or loitering, panhandling, begging, gambling, laying down or sleeping inside of the TARTA Hub
  • No offensive materials or public display of pornographic materials or media.
  • No alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, smoking or vaping.
    Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
    Keep your belongings with you at all times.
  • No littering, throwing, discarding, depositing any paper, glass, or other material except for in designated trash receptacles.
  • No inappropriate discharging of bodily fluids. Urinating, defecating, vomiting, spitting or on TARTA property is strictly prohibited.

Violation of any of the rules established in the Code of Conduct Policy will result in the immediate suspension of (riding privilege and) ability to utilize the hub facility.


Flex Code of Conduct

Rules to Observe While on TARTA Flex Vehicles

  • No person shall interfere, in any manner, with the safe operation or movement of any TARTA vehicle.
  • No weapons, and/or firearms, explosives, or flammable substances.
  • Riders must stay seated and buckled in while the vehicle is in motion.
  • No smoking, vaping, eating, or drinking on any TARTA vehicle.
  • No profanity, bullying or harassment, sexual/racial slurs or gestures, threatening/offensive language and no public displays of affection.
  • Use headphones while listening to music or video games. If we can hear it, it is too loud.
  • Please dress appropriately; shirts/tops and shoes must be worn.
  • No animals, insects or reptiles, except service animals. (Service animals will be denied transport if seriously disruptive.)
  • Have your fare ready before you board: Cash (exact change only; drivers do not make change), transfer or EZFare app.
  • Do not litter on the vehicle; take your trash with you.
  • Limit personal items to those you can personally carry, and maintain a firm hold on them. Make sure you have all your personal items when you depart the vehicle.
  • Never cross or step in front of the vehicle once you depart.
  • After three (3) No Shows or Incidents, riders may be suspended  from TARTA Flex service. If you cannot make a ride you have scheduled, please Cancel it using the TARTA Flex app or with a Customer Service Representative.
  • It is understood that TARTA Flex service is similar to the Fixed Route “curb to curb” service and is not door-to-door as is our paratransit service.

Violation of any of the rules established in the Code of Conduct Policy can result in the immediate suspension of riding privileges and will subject the offender to the penalties set forth in Ohio Revised Code 306.99 (B).


Lost and Found Policy

The purpose of this policy is to establish rules and procedures for Lost and Found. This policy will cover all employees who find items and those who maintain the Lost and Found, while allowing for a unified approach and expectation of implementation of the Lost and Found Operation.

TARTA is not held responsible for lost items left on the bus or on TARTA property.

Lost items on TARTA’s Fixed Route and Flex that are found by the bus operator/TARTA staff or customers will be forwarded to the TARTA Transit Hub (612 N. Huron St., Toledo, OH 43610). Customers may call 419-243-7433 or can go to the TARTA Transit Hub to inquire about lost items Monday-Sunday from 8am-5pm.

Lost items found on TARTA Move (TARTA’s Para Transit) vehicles that are found by the Bus operator/TARTA staff or customers will be forwarded to the TARTA Move location (130 Knapp St, Toledo, OH 43604). Customers may call 419-382-9901 Monday-Sunday 9am-5pm. After 5 days, items will be relocated to the Transit Hub (612 N. Huron St., Toledo, OH 43610).

A customer must be able to provide reasonable proof of ownership of an item before the item is released. Once ownership is proven, the customer is required to sign the pick-up tag. A copy of this tag will be kept on file for 3 months.

Items that are not picked up within (7) seven business days will be disposed of.

Social Media Policy

TARTA’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and
YouTube pages are utilized as a public service to inform customers and members of
the community of transit service-related information, agency news, events and other
relevant activities. Social Media Policy

Social media accounts are monitored regularly Monday-Friday during business hours.
We encourage feedback and interaction on social media and endeavor to respond
within 24 hours to inquiries.

Images and content posted by TARTA, including its trademarks, service marks, logos
and other proprietary intellectual property may not be used in any manner likely to
cause confusion among customers or in any manner that disparages or discredits
TARTA. Images may not be modified in any way that substantially alters the content,
subject or meaning of the image. Use of an image must be accompanied by a photo
credit to TARTA.

  • We reserve the right to mute comments or block individuals from TARTA’s social
    media accounts for violating this code of conduct by engaging in the following
    behaviors:
    • Spamming (content that is posted repeatedly on a profile)
    • Defamatory, malicious, profane, obscene, sexual, intimidating, discriminatory,
      demeaning, disparaging, harassing or threatening comments or profile pictures
    • Calls to violence of any kind
    • Activity that violates any law or regulation
    • Self-serving or flagrant promotion of goods, sites, or services
    • Posting links to websites that are not affiliated with TARTA
    • Name-calling, personal attacks or hate propaganda, including hostile, derogatory or
      deliberately insulting comments toward a specific individual or group
    • Any other comments that TARTA deems inappropriate
