(TOLEDO, July 24, 2020) – An employee of the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual serves in an internal staff position and does not interact with the public. The employee last worked on Sunday, July 19.
Immediate action was taken, including the employee being directed to self-quarantine and analysis of any coworker(s) who may have been in less than six feet of contact for more than 10 minutes. TARTA already conducts nightly disinfection of work areas with CDC approved cleaning agents and is committed to continuing this practice.
TARTA has been working diligently to provide all employees the safest possible work environment. Since early March, TARTA has taken multiple steps and developed mandatory employee safety protocols including:
Employees are strongly encouraged not to report to work if they are, or suspect to be, sick.
Employee work areas are sanitized and disinfected daily.
TARTA has provided all employees with facial masks and employees are always required to wear a facial mask unless they are in a solitary work environment such as an office.
TARTA provided all employees with a digital thermometer. Employees are required to take their temperature prior to arriving at work and at the end of the workday.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hand sanitizer and gloves are provided to all employees.
TARTA regularly informs employees about best practices and protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the work place.
Non-essential employees are working remotely. Other employees work reduced hours to minimize risk and exposure in TARTA facilities and offices.
TARTA facilities have been closed to the public to limit the spread of COVID-19.
