From February 13-20, 2022, Ohio public transit agencies and their partners will participate in Ohio Loves Transit – a statewide initiative highlighting how independent mobility is the strong economic engine of Ohio’s communities.
Hosted annually by the Ohio Public Transit Association (OPTA), Ohio Loves Transit provides an opportunity for the Toledo Region to showcase how public transit is necessary for our economy and enhances mobility for all, especially through access to jobs and by keeping our community moving during the COVID-19 pandemic.
TARTA kicked off its celebration of Ohio Loves Transit week with a community forum. In addition to information on TARTA’s plans for 2022 from CEO Laura Koprowski and Director of External Affairs and Communications Sam Melden, the program included a keynote address by transit expert Bethany Whitaker of Nelson\Nygaard. Bethany discussed the adjustments transit agencies have made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what lies ahead in the very near future for mobility.
A video of the entire program will be available soon on this page.
Bethany Whitaker is a Principal with Nelson\Nygaard, who is assisting TARTA in its first systemwide redesign in decades, TARTA Next. Find out more about that project here, and watch tarta.com and TARTA social sites for information on changes coming to TARTA routes and services in late 2022.
TARTA staff will be handing out fun-filled swag bags to our customers on a first come/first serve basis to share our appreciation.
