TARTA Participates in National #SoundTheHorn Campaign
Today, May 21 at 3pm to Honor Public Transit Workers
(TOLEDO, May 21, 2020) – The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is joining public transit authorities across the state and country for a coordinated day of action to simultaneously sound their fleets of bus, trains, bus and boat horns on May 21 to honor heroic transportation workers across America. As a tribute to #HeroesMovingHeroes on the front lines of this public health crisis, all TARTA buses and TARPS vehicles in service will give two one-second horn blasts at 3:00 p.m. in solidarity with partner agencies. Heroic transportation workers continue to provide critical mobility services for healthcare workers, grocery store employees, sanitation workers and other heroes who are performing critically essential work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The TARTA bus fleet will participate in #SoundTheHorn Campaign today just before 3pm during the hourly line-up at the Downtown Hub at 612 N. Huron with more than 20 vehicles present along with bus drivers, TARTA employees and customers.
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) provides a vital link in the Toledo metro area to jobs, education, health care and other destinations. It enables everyone in our community to have access to transportation regardless of their age, race, physical ability or economic background. TARTA is underway with exploring and introducing new initiatives and service options that will enhance convenience and customer experience while moving Toledo into the future of public transit.
