(TOLEDO, March 26, 2021) â The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is adding additional bus service to its system beginning Monday, March 29, 2021. This is part of an overall effort by the Authority to improve service to jobs, hospitals and other essential destinations in its service area as the region is recovering from the COVID pandemic. Attached is a full listing of the new service and routes.
On March 29, TARTA will also increase its passenger limits to 20 riders per bus. On smaller vehicles, the new passenger limit will be 9 riders and this will apply to the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service (TARPS) and Call-A-Ride services. The decision is based on the availability of COVID vaccines for TARTA employees and passengers. This will also help meet growing ridership on the fixed bus route system and TARPS. Social distancing within vehicles and rear-boarding on buses is still required.
The new spring service also introduces âCoreâ service, which offers faster, more convenient service of every 30 minutes where demand is the highest and on the highest demand routes. New Core service will be available Monday through Saturday. Saturday service hours remain at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Continuation of Core service is subject to available funding.
TARTAâs Rider Information Line is available to answer questions about the new service at 419-243-7433 Monday through Saturday. Details are also available at www.tarta.com including a new trip planner for riders to easily plan how to use the TARTA system.
TARTA will continue to follow its COVID-19 Rider Safety Guidelines which include requiring passengers to wear a facial covering and no fare collection. For a complete list of the Rider Safety Guidelines, visit tarta.com/coronavirus.
