Since late last year, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) has provided a space for community organizations to reach those who need their help through the Hub of Hope program.
TARTA is excited to welcome new partnerships and events the next two Wednesdays for this endeavor, which allows organizations to set up a table at the downtown Toledo Transit Hub (612 N. Huron Street) while customers wait for their ride.
Representatives of the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be at the Hub this Wednesday, April 6, to outline the services they provide and walk TARTA customers through how to access them. The organization’s mission is to help individuals with developmental disabilities of any kind reach their full potential.
Mercy Health’s Moms Quit for Two Program and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality will visit the Hub Wednesday, April 13, from 1-4 p.m. Mercy Health representatives will promote the importance of quitting smoking for women – especially those who are pregnant – and will provide support and tools for expectant mothers and their families.
Other upcoming outreach events scheduled at TARTA’s Hub include:
“We’ve been so excited by the response to Hub of Hope, and so grateful that it’s something both our customers and community partners have found to be a benefit,” said Susan Gettum, TARTA’s Customer Care Manager. “We are always looking for opportunities for outreach and opportunities to provide not just the transportation our riders depend on, but information and resources that they might not have known were available to them.”
Community partners interested in providing information or performing outreach at the Hub should email [email protected].
