On Dec. 27, President Trump signed the COVID relief and government funding bill that includes $14 billion in public transportation relief to prevent further cuts in transit service during a critical time to keep the economy and our communities moving ahead into recovery.
TARTA thanks the President and our Congressional delegation for this emergency funding to ensure that public transit agencies can survive. This federal aid makes it possible for TARTA to continue to transport 3,000 customers daily to essential destinations including work, medical services and grocery stores.
TARTA also thanks our local government and business leaders, customers and public transit advocates for participating in our#SavePublicTransit advocacy efforts. Our collective voices made a difference in securing this necessary funding.
Since the last COVID-19 Update, TARTA has had no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 among its employees. Since March 2020, there have been 26 TARTA employees with confirmed cases of COVID-19: 12 administrative employees; five paratransit operators; seven fixed route operators; and two maintenance employees.
