All language assistance services for Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority programs and services,
including paratransit functional assessments and paratransit eligibility appeals,
are provided to the public at no charge.
An employee in this classification, under the supervision of the Director, Paratransit Services or designee, performs a variety of duties involving the routing and dispatching of the department vehicles and personnel.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of paratransit operations and dispatcher techniques, practices and procedures
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
Ability to use sound judgment and to work independently
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships
Effective communications and organizational skills verbal and written
Knowledge of local, state and federal laws relating to transportation activities
Complies with all applicable laws and policies regarding confidential information
Responsibilities of the Position:
Coordinates a variety of activities relating to the routing and dispatching of vehicles and operators
Analyzes and evaluates routes and schedules to assure efficient and appropriate transportation service
Directly supervises paratransit operators. Schedules, directs, and monitors routes of transportation personnel
Keeps transportation personnel apprised of daily weather and traffic conditions
Responsible for payroll verification, authorization, reporting and record keeping
Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, laws, practices, and collective bargaining agreements. Maintains an amicable and harmonious work environment
Attends staff and driver meetings, as required
Acts as managerial and customer liaison with passengers, families, and the public
Checks for building security and opens and closes building on a daily basis
Maintains supervisory files, logs, records, reports, and schedules, which are accurate, clear and complete
Other duties as assigned
Equipment Operated:
Computer applications software and basic office equipment
Trapeze software
Operates a two-way radio and mobile data computer (MDC) communications
Hours:
The position will require work hours on weekends, evenings, and on-call
Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experiences:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D., Degree in Business, transportation or related area preferred
Experience: Two (2) years demonstrated leadership ability
Credentials:
Certification: Reasonable Suspicion Testing certification. (Obtainable within 30 days)
Licensure: Valid driver’s license
Other: Requires own transportation
