October is National Disability Awareness Month
TARTA offers free fare for seniors and disabled riders October 12.
TARTA and TARPS is providing free service to individuals with disabilities and senior citizens age 65 and over all day Thursday, October 12, 2006 on all of its regularly scheduled routes in conjunction with the Second Annual Disability Awareness Day Expo at Civic Center Promenade located in the Erie Street Market, 237 S. Erie St., 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on the same day.
Regular TARTA fare is one dollar; 50 cents for persons with disabilities and seniors age 65 and over. TARPS regular fare is $2.00.
Free fare will also be available to individuals with disabilities and senior citizens age 65 and over on TARTA Call-A-Ride servicing Maumee, Perrysburg, Rossford, Spencer Township, Sylvania/Sylvania Twp.-, and Waterville.
The Disability Awareness Day Expo is free and open to the public.

TARTA to run MuddyShuttle to Fifth Third Field for Rally.
Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will provide its MuddyShuttle service at 5:15 p.m. to Fifth Third Field this Wednesday night for the Mud Hens International League Governors’ Cup Championship Rally! (Scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2006 from 6:15-7:30 p.m.)
The last run of the MuddyShuttle service this year is will depart at 5:15 p.m. from its twelve Park & Ride locations for a direct round-trip ride to both Fifth Third Field entrances$1 per person or $2 for groups up to 5 people. No ticket is required to Park & Ridereturn trips leave 20 minutes following the end of rally. (Westfield Franklin Park MuddyShuttle stop temporarily closed.)

Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will provide its MuddyShuttle service to Mud Hens games at Fifth Third Field for the International League Governors’ Cup Finals:

Game 4 Friday, September 15 7:00 p.m. (if necessary);

Race for the Cure participants ride TARTA free this Sunday.
-Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will provide free fare on all its regular line service buses for registered participants for the 13th Annual Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure on Sunday, September 17, 2006, to be held downtown Toledo.
Riders need only show their number, t-shirt, or registration for that day’s event for free fare on any TARTA bus route with regular Sunday service.
Non-ticketed parking will also available at the University of Toledo in Lots 1 & 2 off of Bancroft (TARTA route 22), Lot 28 near the Transportation Center just north of Dorr Street for the route 5 TARTA bus, and Scott Park Campus (TARTA route 27).
Return trips will be available from TARTA bus lineup service on Jackson Street between Summit and St. Clair downtown.

Lineups on Erie St. Sunday evening for Downtown fireworks.
Due to downtown fireworks on Sunday, September 3, 2006, all regular TARTA bus lineups will be on Erie St. south of Jackson St. and north of Madison Ave. 8:30 p.m. to 10:50 p.m. affecting the following routes:
2, 5, 11/14, 12/13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 26, 27, 28/30, 31/32, and 34.

TARTA providing express service to O-I Campus in Perrysburg.
Beginning Monday, August 28, TARTA will add express bus service to the O-I Campus at Levis Commons in Perrysburg. O-I will be served by TARTA routes 10L and 42X which are an extension of current TARTA routes: 42 and 10A.
TARTA Route 42X originates from Miracle Mile Shopping Center--a TARTA park and ride location--and Route 10L connects downtown Toledo with the O-I Campus. Service for both routes will operate Monday-Friday.

Ride TARTA free Tuesday, August 1Ozone Action Day.
The Toledo Division of Environmental Services has identified Tuesday, August 1, 2006 as an Ozone Action Day, therefore bus rides on all regularly-scheduled TARTA routes are free. Anytime an Ozone Action Day is declared, passengers ride all TARTA in-service vehicles at no charge that day.
Ground level ozone is a lung irritant and can be especially dangerous to those with respiratory conditions, children, the elderly, and those who do a lot of outdoor exercise.
Citizens can help reduce hydrocarbon emissions on Ozone Action Days by:
• Riding TARTA buses free.
• Not mowing the lawn.
• Driving their newest vehicle.
• Combining trips.
• Refueling cars after 6:00 p.m.
• Avoid using charcoal lighter fluid and oil-based paints.

Rec Center Muddy Shuttle stop moving for July 21-28 Mud Hens games.
During the 2006 Lucas County Fair July 25-30, the Muddy Shuttle stop at the Lucas County Recreation Center will be closed and moved to Holiday Plaza for the Mud Hens' July 21-28 home games. The Rec Center location will reopen for the next home stay beginning August 3.
Holiday Plaza, located at the Anthony Wayne Trail and Detroit Avenue, is a former Muddy Shuttle stop and continues to be a regular TARTA Park & Ride location.
Muddy Shuttle fare is $1 per person or $2 for groups up to 5 people. No game ticket is required to ride the Muddy Shuttle. Return trips leave 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Fifth Third Field feature; if fireworks are featured after the derby, return bus trips leave 20 minutes after the fireworks.

Franklin Park bus stops to be temporarily removed.
Due to summertime events at Westfield Franklin Park, TARTA bus shelters & stop in the southwest parking lot of the mall at Westfield Franklin Park will be removed as of Thursday, July 13, 2006.
A temporary stop will be on Royer Road until August 1. Royer Road runs between Kohl's and JCPenney and will eventually be the permanent TARTA bus stop location in the Franklin Park neighborhood this summer.
Affected TARTA bus routes July 13-August 1 are 1/2/2X/3/4/19F/20/22/39 & the Muddy Shuttle. Mud Hens fans may use the Muddy Shuttle location at Westgate Village on the north side of Central Ave. near Sears for the July 21-28 Mud Hens home games.
The lot at Westfield Franklin Park will be accessible for the 2006 Triple-A All-Star game Wednesday, July 12, 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.

Routes 31 and 34 detour for the VIVA South Mexican American Fiesta.
During the 2nd Annual VIVA South Mexican American Fiesta on Saturday, July 29, 2006, Broadway will be blocked from Western to Walbridge. Route 31 and 34 TARTA buses will maintain the following detour:
31 outbound: Broadway to Maumee Ave. (L), South St. (R), Broadway (L) to regular route.
31 inbound: Broadway to South St. (R), Sumner (L), Segur (L), Broadway (R) to regular route.
34 outbound: Broadway to Segur (R), Field (L), Western (R) to regular route.
34 inbound: Western to Field (L), Segur (R), Broadway (L) to regular route.
Normal routing will resume Sunday, July 30 at 6:00 a.m.

Due to street construction, Park Station--corner of Erie and Madison--is closed Friday, June 23 through Monday, June 26, 2006. Park Station is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, June 27.

Route 32 detour continuance.
Due to continued sewer construction on Airport Highway, all Route 32 buses will detour as follows:
Outbound Route 32: Airport Highway to Wenz (R), Angola (L), Reynolds Rd. (L), to regular route.
Inbound Route 32: Reynolds Rd. to Angola (R), Wenz (R), Airport Highway (L) to regular route.
The detour is in effect until further notice.

Seagate and Government Stations closed for "Taste of the Town".
Due to the Taste of the Town event, the TARTA will temporarily move its bus stops Wednesday, May 31 through Sunday, June 4, 2006 from Seagate Station to Summit St.; and Government Station to Erie St. in front of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
lineups normally located on Jackson St. at Seagate Station will lineup on Erie St. between Jackson and Adams; all other units will lineup from Adams St. towards Park Station.

TARTA fare is 25 cents for cyclists during Bike Week May 22-26.
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority is cooperating with the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments for Bike Week, Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, by offering a fare of 25¢ for cyclists using the bike racks on TARTA buses. All TARTA buses are equipped with bicycle racks.
The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments wants people to try bicycling to work or school. TMACOG Bike to Work Day is Wednesday, May 24.

TARTA celebrates Earth Day with free fare from Metroparks.
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will recognize Earth Day this Saturday, April 22, by offering free fare for those boarding TARTA buses at any of the Metroparks of the Toledo Area within TARTA's service boundaries.
Metroparks included are Wildwood Preserve (Sylvania Call-A-Ride); Swan Creek Preserve (Routes 31G and 32R); and Side Cut (Maumee Call-A-Ride).

TARTA moving Franklin Park stop.
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority is temporarily relocating its bus stop at Westfield Franklin Park beginning Tuesday, April 4, to its previous location in the southwest area of the shopping center’s property (near Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Talmadge Rd.- Sylvania Avenue intersection).
TARTA will move to its permanent location on Royer Road upon completion of roadway improvements.
Bus routes and times will not be affected.

Effective Friday, March 31, 2006, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority Promenade Station location on Summit Street will be relocated three hundred feet toward Jefferson Avenue.

Due to construction on Dorr St. from Smead to Division, Route 27 and 28/30 evening routes will be affected.

Effective immediately, all TARTA bus stops on Monroe St. between Collingwood and Lawrence will be closed. Therefore, no TARTA passengers will be permitted to board or be dropped-off in the construction zone.
Construction is scheduled to last through May 1, 2006.

Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority now has a Spanish language version of its transit guide. The TARTA transit guide covers topics such as fares, how to read the schedules, and routes to all nine communities in its service area.
The guide outlining the services of the agency is also available in English.
